Freeze probability
Freeze probability is the chance a freeze falls before (or after) a given date. The 50% date is the median — a coin flip; the 10% spring date means only one year in ten sees a later freeze. Older almanacs publish only averages; the NOAA normals behind our tables publish the full spread, which is what planting-risk decisions actually need.
