Winter sowing
Winter sowing plants seeds in mini-greenhouses (often milk jugs) set outdoors in winter, letting freeze-thaw cycles stratify and germinate them on nature's schedule. It suits cold-hardy perennials and hardy vegetables; tender crops still wait for warmth.
